What is Net iD GPO?
Net iD GPO is built upon the Group Policy feature that is a primary component of change and configuration management within a Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) environment. Net iD product settings are configured using a server side component and are applied to computers by a client side component. Net iD settings are stored in virtual Active Directory objects called Group Policy Objects (GPO), which are managed by using the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC).
Net iD GPO consists of the following components:
Net iD Group Policy Object Editor (Net iD GPOE)
Net iD GPOE is a user interface used by administrators to configure policies containing Net iD settings. Net iD GPOE is implemented as an MMC snap-in that extends the computer configuration namespace in the Group Policy Object Editor. To assign and edit Group Policy Objects administrators use the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC).
Net iD Group Policy Client Side Extension (Net iD CSE)
Net iD CSE is a client side component shipped with the Net iD Enterprise client. Net iD CSE applies configurations contained in Group Policy Objects during computer startup and at Group Policy refresh intervals. By default, policies are reapplied every 90 minutes. Policies can also be reapplied on demand by executing the Gpupdate.exe command-line utility.
