Upgrading from previous versions
| It is very important that you follow the correct path for your system. Choosing an incorrect upgrade path will leave your system corrupt. |
| Regardless of your current version, make sure to back up any graphical changes you have done to any of the portals or login forms. |
| The system will not be responsive during the upgrade, therefore an upgrade has to be carefully planned before it is executed. |

Upgrading from 8.x to 9.0
| Due to changes of the prerequisites - it is recommended to first take a backup of current version and uninstall it. |

Start Access Gateway Admin.

Make a backup of the current configuration Tools > Backup. The configuration will be saved.

Close Access Gateway Admin.

Manually uninstall the current version of Access Gateway using Add and remove programs in Windows.

When the uninstallation is complete, reboot the server.

Install Access Gateway 9.0 by following the installation instructions.
| If you execute the installer and let it handle the upgrade, it will uninstall the current version. However, after uninstallation, you will get a message regarding missing prerequisites and will need to abort installation and install the prerequisites first. |
Upgrade from 7.2.4 to 8.0

Start Access Gateway Admin.

Make a backup of the current configuration Tools > Backup. The configuration will be saved. Do not use this backup to restore on version 8.0.

Close Access Gateway Admin.

Manually uninstall Access Gateway using Add and remove programs in Windows. Make sure you choose to uninstall Pointsharp 7.2.4 and not the Gateway 7.2.4 item.

When the uninstallation is complete, reboot the server.

Install Access Gateway using the Pointsharp Gateway 8.0.exe installer.
Upgrade from 6.x.x - 7.2.3 to 8.0

Start Access Gateway Admin.

Make a backup of the current configuration. The configuration will be saved. Do not use this backup to restore on version 8.0.

Close Access Gateway Admin.

Manually uninstall Apache Couch DB from Add and remove programs in Windows.

Launch the Pointsharp Gateway 8.0.exe installer.
