Large file handling

All values listed here, should be defined in CS4OutlookAdminConfig.xml.

Auto-activation threshold (MB)

If files are attached to a regular Outlook message that exceed the limit defined here, Cryptshare is activated automatically.

Acceptable values

  • Set the threshold to any value between 0 and 10,240 MB (=10 GB).

  • If you set the value to "0", all messages with file attachments will always be sent via Cryptshare.

  • To disable the feature in the configuration file CS4OutlookAdminConfig.xml, set the value to "-1".

The threshold value for the automatic activation of Cryptshare must be smaller than the size limit for email attachments in MS Exchange. Otherwise, while attaching large files from MS Outlook, you will get an error message. This cannot be suppressed by Cryptshare for Outlook (Classic). The size limit in MS Exchange is 20 MB by default.

Save sent files up to (MB)

If an outgoing transfer contains files, Cryptshare for Outlook (Classic) offers you the option of saving the files as file attachments in the message in your "Sent Items" folder.

However, the files may be very large and could lead to unintentional exceeding of limits on the part of the mail server when your Sent Items folder is synchronized with the server.

A size limit for storage can therefore be defined. If the size of the files exceeds this limit, the files are not stored in the "Sent Items", only the file names are stored.

Acceptable values

  • Set the limit to any value between 0 and 10,240 MB (=10 GB).

  • Set the value to 0 MB to completely prevent the storage of file attachments.

Show warning when saving sent attachments greater than (MB)

A warning threshold for the storage of attachments can be defined. If the size of the files exceeds this warning threshold, but not the defined limit for storing the files, the user is asked how to proceed with the file attachments.

If the answer to the question is "No", only the file names in the message are stored in "Sent Items" instead of the files.

Acceptable values

  • Set the warning threshold to any value between 0 and 10,240 MB (=10 GB).

  • If you set the value to 0 MB, a warning is always displayed when sent attachments are to be saved.

Disable warning

To prevent a warning, equate the warning threshold with the storage limit.

Import incoming files up to (MB)

If an incoming transfer contains files, Cryptshare for Outlook offers you the option to import the files into your inbox.

However, the files may be very large and could lead to an unintentional exceeding of limits on the part of the mail server when your inbox is synchronized with the server. A size limit can therefore be defined for import.

If the size of the files exceeds this limit, the files are not imported into the inbox, but are stored on the hard drive of your workstation. Links to the respective files as well as to the parent directory are integrated in the message, so that the files can be found quickly and opened directly.

Acceptable values

  • Set the import limit to any value between 0 and 10,240 MB (=10 GB).

  • Set the maximum size to 0 MB to prevent the import of files.

Show warning on file import greater than (MB)

A warning threshold value for the import can be defined. If the size of the files exceeds this warning threshold, the user is asked if they want to import the files into the inbox. If not, they are stored on the hard drive of your workstation.

Links to the respective files, as well as to the parent directory, are then integrated into the message, so that the files can be found quickly and opened directly.

Acceptable values

  • Set the warning threshold to any value between 0 and 10,240 MB (=10 GB).

  • If you set the value to 0 MB, a warning will always be displayed when files are imported.
