Restore

Pointsharp ID features a restore function which makes it possible to restore the configuration files, license and encryption keys from a backup file created in Pointsharp ID Admin GUI. It is possible to restore users if users are included in the backup file. When restoring a backup just for the configuration, do not include users in the restoring process if your backup should already contain users.

Restoring users is considered advanced and should be only be done by an experienced Pointsharp ID administrator. Restoring users can take a considerable amount of time.
  1. Start Pointsharp ID Admin GUI as an administrator.

  2. On the General tab, click the Stop button to stop Pointsharp ID.

  3. Start Windows Services and stop World Wide Web Publishing Service.

  4. Open the File menu in Pointsharp ID Admin GUI.

  5. Select Restore.

  6. Beware that a restore will overwrite all configuration and encryption keys. Click Yes to continue.

  7. Browse to a valid Pointsharp ID backup file. Select the zip file to restore from and click Open.

  8. Restore configuration only: When restoring a backup just for the configuration, do not include users in the restoring process if your backup should already contain users. The user data is not needed to be restored in such case. Just click No when such action is requested by the PSID Admin GUI.

Restore users also: If the users should be restored, click Yes. Note that this will overwrite any stored users in the Pointsharp ID Storage. That is, the users will also be "restored" in terms of OATH tokens and Access Gateway Devices.

  9. Click OK to finish.

  10. Pointsharp ID Admin GUI needs to be restarted. Click the OK button.

  11. Start Pointsharp ID as an administrator.

  12. On the General tab, make sure Restart Web Services is checked, then click the Restart button.

The restore is now completed and the service is restarted with the configuration from the backup file.
