System requirements

The following system requirements are needed to correctly install and run Net iD Portal. For more information, see Release notes

Server requirements

  • Minimum 2 CPU cores (recommended)

  • Minimum 8 GB of RAM (dedicated)

  • OS locale: English (en-US)

  • Virtualization platforms supported: VMware, Hyper-V

Web service

Net iD Portal shall be installed on a web server included in the environment hierarchy.

The following platforms can be used as a web server:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2022

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2025

Required services:

.NET framework

Net iD Portal requires that the following versions of .NET framework is installed on the web server (.NET Framework can be downloaded from the Microsoft.com web page):

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8.1

Different versions of .NET Framework are included, or can be installed, on Windows Server.

Database service

A SQL database server is required and supports the following services:

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2022

Certificate service

A certificate service is required for issuing certificates.

  • Microsoft Active Directory Certificate Service (using COM-object).

  • Keyfactor (formerly Primekey) Enterprise Java Beans Certificate Authority (using web service).

    • EJBCA version 8

    • EJBCA version 9

Directory service

A directory service is required for use of already existing users.

  • Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services (using LDAP).

  • Microsoft Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (using LDAP).

  • Microsoft Entra ID, formerly Azure Active Directory) (using Microsoft Graph as web service).

  • Pointsharp Directory, formerly Vemendo. Contact Identity directory service (using web service).

  • Pointsharp ID Server (using web service).

National citizen register service

In Sweden, a national citizen register service is required for unique users defined as physical persons.

  • Swedish Tax Agency, Navet (using web service).

  • Swedish Tax Agency, SPAR (using web service).

GUI

Net iD Client

This software is required when using a web browser. Net iD Client uses an included web-extension against the web browser. This is needed for local access to the token/certificate of the user, for eample, smart card or other key token.

Note that the web-extension must be enabled in the web browser and that your site is allowed access in Net iD Client configuration Plugin AllowURL.

Allowed browsers:

  • Microsoft Edge web browser.

  • Google Chrome web browser.

  • Mozilla Firefox web browser.
