Quick start guide

This quick start guide will help you to get started in no time. It describes the minimal steps that need to be performed to start using the add-In with default settings.

The Cryptshare for Outlook (Classic) add-in provides a large number of possibilities to manage settings centrally, and control the behavior of the add-in. However, we recommend getting used to working with the add-in first. This guide allows you to get started within a few minutes using reasonable default settings that you can easily modify later on.

Please perform the following steps:

  1. Ensure that client and server both meet the requirements. See Cryptshare products compatibility and Product lifecycle policy.

  2. Download the software from the Customer portal.

  3. You can install Cryptshare for Outlook (Classic) either manually at a single workstation, or via software distribution. If you use msiexec, please note that most settings and options described are all optional and don’t need to be set now.

A Settings Wizard will eventually guide you through some necessary input such as Connection Settings that need to be made for the connection to the Cryptshare Server, as well as the input of Personal Data (first name, last name, telephone number).
  4. Start Outlook (Classic) and create a new message.

  5. You will see a button "Send with Cryptshare" in the upper left corner of your screen. Click Send with Cryptshare.

Next step

  • A settings wizard will ask you to enter some necessary information about the connection (address of the Cryptshare server, proxy settings if applicable) and about yourself (first and last name, phone number).

  • If there are terms of use stored on your server and you have to accept them, the add-in will now show you them and ask you to accept them.

  • Your email address will then be automatically verified. This is done without any action on your part - all you have to do is wait a few seconds.

Done! Cryptshare for Outlook (Classic) is now ready to use.
