Microsoft recommends the following minimum general hardware requirements to run Outlook on the web. These requirements therefore also apply to running the Cryptshare for Outlook on the web add-in.
We strongly suggest exceeding these requirements, as the Outlook web app may be demanding at times. Older devices may be served the "light version" of Outlook, which does not support add-ins.
Official Microsoft recommended requirements, as of September 2023:
| Processor |
1.6 GHz or higher, or Intel-based Mac computer |
| Memory |
1 GB of RAM or higher |
| Resolution |
1024 × 768 minimum |
| Internet connection |
High-speed internet access is recommended. |
Operating system
These requirements match the Microsoft recommendations. It is advised to generally use the latest operating system version available.
-
Windows 7 or later
-
Mac OS X 10.10 or later
-
Linux: Known to work in Firefox and Chrome. Some features may not be available.
Web browsers
Minimum supported version:
| Chrome |
Newest version on Windows and on other platforms. |
| Microsoft Edge |
Newest version on Win & Mac. |
Unsupported browsers:
| Firefox |
Firefox is not supported at the moment. |
| Safari |
Outlook on the web only works in Safari with 3rd Party Cookies enabled, which is not something we recommend to do. Therefore we currently don’t officially support Safari. |
| IE 11 and more |
In line with Microsoft browser support, other browsers such as Internet Explorer 11 & Edge Legacy and all other mobile browsers, are not supported. |
Exchange online, Outlook environment
In order to be able to use the Cryptshare for Outlook add-in, an active Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) subscription including Exchange Online, and the ability to sideload add-ins, is required.
Most features should work with little to no restrictions in the Outlook for Windows Desktop Client.
